Communication disorders in children and adults

Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have developed a reading knowledge of the more common communication disorders in children and adults; familiarity with some of the procedures involved in the assessment and management of communication disorders; an awareness of the professions dealing with individuals with communication disorders.

Synopsis This subject is concerned with the study of human communication disorders involving hearing, speech and language and is suitable for people working in schools, kindergartens, hospitals and community health centres. Special emphasis will be given to hearing impairment, auditory processing and fluency disorders. Students will be expected to participate in lecture-discussions, workshop activities and visit special settings off-campus.
