Creative arts education

6 points + 7 hours per week + Second semester + Peninsula

Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have developed knowledge and understanding of basic practical skills required for each of the four areas of the creative arts - art, dance, drama and music; curriculum issues concerning the creative arts in education; a rationale for each of the arts in education; initiating, presenting and evaluating classroom programs in each area of the creative arts with confidence.

Synopsis The subject focuses on four areas - art, dance, drama and music education. It aims to introduce students to the nature of each of the creative arts and its implications for child development; to introduce students to the practice of the arts in the school curriculum; to assist students to develop a rationale for each of the arts and be prepared and confident to teach the creative arts in the primary school.

Assessment Written: 50% + Practical work: 50%
