Teaching in schools

Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have developed an understanding of the school in our society, the role and responsibilities of the teacher, key curriculum concepts and significant educational issues.

Synopsis This subject focuses on the purpose and operation of the primary school. Some critical issues in educational systems are identified along with key concepts regarding the curriculum and its implementation. Students will be encouraged to look carefully at the many roles and responsibilities of teachers; consider classroom management and the organisational needs of teachers and schools; study various elements of basic instructional design, lesson preparation and lesson implementation.

Assessment Examination (2 hours): 100%
