Studio arts: fabric studies

6 points + 3 hours per week + Peninsula + Prerequisite: Approval of lecturer in charge

Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have developed a folio of supportive material; be able to show that they have developed a level of skill to express personal concepts; be able to communicate verbally about their chosen medium and its visual outcomes; show that they are capable of incorporating various art processes to broaden the potential of the medium; be able to complete expressive works and have experienced the process of arranging these works at a public exhibition.

Synopsis After completing this subject students should be able to complete independently an individual well-resolved textile folio which contains original visual images and display selective and confident use of skills and techniques. They should also have produced a folio of supportive material and have indicated that they can work with other students to organise and exhibit their folios for public exhibition. Class visits to exhibitions and fibre artists' studios, critical slide and video lectures and a guest speaker program are incorporated into the subject to broaden students' awareness of the potential of the medium.
