Expressive arts 2

4 points + 3 hours per week + Second semester + Peninsula

Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have developed understanding of and skills in a range of developmentally appropriate early childhood expressive arts experiences.

Synopsis An emphasis will be given to the importance of teachers in early childhood settings providing a range of music, movement, art, drama, dance and puppetry experiences. These experiences are based on philosophical and pedagogical issues in music, art and early childhood education. The role of the educator as facilitator of children's creative and artistic development and aesthetic appreciation is addressed. Consideration is given to the arts and young children with special needs and abilities.

Assessment Written (1500 words): 20% + Practical assignments in music and visual arts: 80%
