4 points + 3 hours per week + Peninsula + Prerequisites: EDN2525 and EDN2545

Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to further develop design, drawing and computer graphic skills; independently investigate a personal theme using any one or more of the studio art disciplines; to refine technical and conceptual skills with emphasis being placed on the self direction and critical inquiry in the chosen area(s) of study; investigate and experiment with current trends in their chosen media. Students should have developed a broader understanding of relevant terminology, and become familiar with a wide range of literature and theory.

Synopsis Students will be required to select two disciplines from those offered in the subject and produce a folio of artworks. Emphasis will be placed on the refinement of technical and conceptual skills. Students will be expected to further develop drawing and design expertise, including computer skills. The subject will include the critical analysis of art theory and practice through lectures, excursions to galleries, schools and regional centres, leading to the development of subject outlines for general classroom application.

Assessment Written (2000 words): 20% + Folio (1 or 2 major practical pieces, resource folder and drawing folio): 80%
