Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the gross anatomy of the athlete's body in general and of the muscular and skeletal systems in particular; an understanding of the functions of the muscular and skeletal systems of the athlete's body; the basic skills and an understanding of the basic playing or performing requirements in the selected dance, sports, gymnastics and other physical activities.

Synopsis Organisation of the body; cells, tissues, membranes and glands; skeletal system; skeletal muscles; joints and joint movement; analysis of basic movement skills. Participation in selected physical activities.

Assessment Examination: 70% Practical test: 30%
