Advanced issues in system design

Synopsis Investigates in considerable depth one or more areas of current interest in system design. Topics for 1996 will include the following. Total Quality Management: the role of TQM methods and their applicability to the IT process will be critically evaluated. Business process re-engineering: the relevance and synergy of incremental and radical approaches to business re-engineering will be discussed; and the impact of IT on innovation and improvement of business processes will be examined and analysed. Organisational change management: the importance of considering the impact on people of implementation of new technology will be discussed. Approaches to the management of organisational change will be critically evaluated and compared.
