Objectives At the completion of the subject students should be able to analyse three-dimensional graphics applications; and design and implement three-dimensional graphics programs and packages.
Synopsis The purpose of this subject is to provide students with an understanding of modern graphics equipment, programming and techniques, and to develop studentsí visual imagination. The syllabus covers: graphics displays; graphics input devices; graphics processing hardware; graphics interactive techniques; coordinate systems; 2D, 3D, 4D (homogeneous); coordinate transformations; projections - orthographic axonometric and perspective; colour, colour specification; lighting model shading, mapping, antialiasing; animation; ray tracing; curved surfaces specification and handling; windowing systems; graphics standards.
Assessment Laboratory assignments: 40% + Written examination: 60%
