Objectives: On completion of this subject students should understand the relationship between IT, organisational management, and resource management strategies; be able to identify the processes and potential problems involved in IS development and IT planning and management; and be able to identify operational management requirements of a system and understand the processes behind IT resourcing.

Professions related to IS, managing IS personnel, organisational structure, administrative issues. Information and computing resource management: managing information services, information centres and the computer services department. Evaluation, selection and acquisition of hardware and software. Acquisition philosophies. Compatibility and connectivity concerns. Industry standards. Vendor relations. Capacity planning. Evaluation, selection and acquisition methodology.
