Objectives On completion of the subject, students should be able to plan and deliver effective oral presentations; plan and effectively participate in meetings; and identify and implement strategies of effective conflict management.

Synopsis Topics covered include theories of communication; the self in communication; the characteristics and functions of language; note-taking; summarising; effective listening; reading skills; non-verbal communication; meeting procedure; working in groups; organisational networks; interpersonal communication; interviews; leadership; presentation skills; the art of persuasion; computer-aided visuals; audience identification.

Assessment Examination (2.5 hours): 80% + Presentation: 10% + Mid-semester test: 10%
