Objectives By completing this subject, students develop an understanding
of physical database design and maintenance.
Synopsis Embedded SQL, performance monitoring and modelling, system
tuning and optimisation for single-site and networked systems, CASE tools for
physical design, schema generators, concurrency and locking, restart and
recovery methods, system security.
Assessment Examination (2 hours): 50% + Practical work: 50%
