CASE technology

6 points + 4 hours per week + Second semester + Caulfield + Prerequisites: COT4230 and SYS4220

Objectives At the completion of this subject students should understand how CASE tools may be used effectively to support the development of applications, including information systems and databases; understand the need for model management, repository management and version control when developing systems using CASE tools; be aware of current proprietary and international standards relevant to CASE tools; and be aware of the trends of CASE technology in meeting the needs of the Australian industry.

Synopsis CASE environment: SAA, AD/Cycle, CUA, DECs; cohesion; data repositories and encyclopaedias. Meta modelling; integrated project support environments; evaluation of CASE software; CASE products; current trends and issues in CASE technology; CASE integration.

Assessment Research paper: 50% + Practical work: 50%
