P Steele

6 points + 4 hours per week + Second semester + Peninsula

Synopsis This subject analyses how computer assistance may be applied to information systems engineering tasks. A conceptual framework for system development will be developed and a range of system development methods will be examined, based on this framework. Meta-modelling will be introduced as a method of representing methods and their associated modelling semantics. Meta-models to support a range of information systems engineering tasks, ranging from systems analysis and design to code generation and reverse engineering, will be examined. The role of the information repository information model as a means of integrating software tools to support information systems engineering will also be examined.

Assessment Examination (2 hours): 40% + Practical work: 60%
