Computing and information technology project

8 points + 2 hours per week + First, second semester + Peninsula + Prerequisites: 8 points of 2nd year computing subjects + Prohibitions: GCO3819, GCO7839, SYS2500

Objectives After completing this subject students should know about the system development process, and the roles and responsibilities of each stakeholder in a system development project; know how to plan, monitor, control and implement a group project allowing for the differing roles of the stakeholders; and respect the ethical considerations and personal responsibilities associated with the computing profession.

Synopsis For non-computing students only, this subject provides the opportunity to consolidate theory from subjects studied as part of a minor in computing and information technology, and to apply these concepts to a practical information technology problem relevant to their major field of study. The project will be selected by students in conjunction with academic staff and tailored to meet the specific interests of students. Project work may be performed in small groups and will involve using information technology to address real-life problems.
