Synopsis This subject is designed to familiarise students with the Chinese language computing environment and to enable them to develop a sound knowledge of Chinese computing in the business context. Students will learn the principles and skills of Chinese business computing through the practical use of popular Chinese software systems and application packages. Emphasis will be given to Chinese computing in particular, but principles applicable to all non-Roman character sets will be discussed. It is expected that students can acquire skills that can easily be translated into using software in non-Roman languages, and will develop ability to understand the techniques used to develop Chinese business applications software. The course will be taught in English, but students need to have a good knowledge of written Chinese.
Assessment Written: 15% + Practical work: 15% + Examination (2 hours): 70%
