Programming for business applications II

6 points + One 2-hour lecture and one 1-hour tutorial per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: BUS1042 and BUS1060 + Prohibitions: CSC1011, CSC1021, RDT1400, SFT1101, SFT1111, SFT7600

Objectives At the completion of this subject students should have developed the skills necessary to create PC-based business applications with graphical user interfaces, using a modern applications development environment; be familiar with the background and use of the application development; and be able to use a range of facilities of computer language including Windows applications.

Synopsis This subject is to introduce students to some advanced computing technologies prevailing in the business arena and how to incorporate these technologies in the development of business applications. Topics covered in this subject are Graphical User Interface (GUI), Microsoft Windows programming, client/server technology, Object Linking and Embedding (OLE), programming for multi-user environments.

Assessment Examination (2 hours): 50% + One mid-semester test: 25% + One assignment: 25% + Note that a pass on the assignment is required to pass the subject
