Overseas study tour I

6 points + Prerequisite: 70% course complete + Students will be required to attend methodology and background classes of three hours duration on three separate days prior to the overseas tour, together with time allocated to discussion and review with the subject leader during the overseas study tour, giving a total of 39 formal hours + Corequisite: MGM3870 + Students must be able to organise the time required to make this overseas tour during the summer semester, for a minimum of three weeks

Objectives On completion of this subject students should have an understanding of `world best practice', for a range of operations management practices and technologies; be able to guide those operations of their employer companies which are most needed to be improved/changed in order to compete internationally.

Synopsis Builds on theoretical skills through observing at first hand the `world best practice', technologies and operation practices implemented by leading manufacturing and service companies internationally. The experiential learning gained will be of particular benefit to the student about to enter the workforce or those seeking to contribute to the effective practices of their employer.

Assessment Study tour report (minimum 10,000 words): 75% + Presentation: 25%
