Objectives On completion of this subject students should understand the core, collective aspects of labour law in Australia, particularly in the Federal jurisdiction.
Synopsis The subject provides an overview of the historical development of Australian labour law and deals with the Federal constitutional basis of industrial regulation, the system of conciliation and arbitration, the regulation and security of trade unions, the legal protection of individual rights, enforcement, and the regulation of industrial action, including the law of torts and secondary boycotts.
Assessment Written (assignments 4000 words): 40% + Take-home examination: 60%
