The management of change

Lecturer to be advised

6 points + One 2-hour lecture and one 1-hour tutorial per week + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisite: For 1996 MGC1020, MGC130; for 1997 MGC2240, MGC2230 or with approval of lecturer

Objectives On completion of this subject students should have an understanding of the process of organisation change; be aware of the role of leadership, power and culture in that process; have an understanding of the historical development of change approaches; have knowledge of change intervention techniques; develop the capacity to analyse case studies of change situations

Synopsis This course will provide students with an understanding of the process of organisation change within the context of organisation culture, power and leadership. This will be achieved through the examination of the major schools of thought concerning the management of change and consider organisation change from an Australian perspective.

Assessment Written (assignment 2000 words): 25% + Group project (2000 words): 15% + Class presentation: 15% + Examination (2 hours): 50%
