Objectives On completion of this course students should understand the concepts, theories, and integrated models of strategic management; understand the key influences on the development of an organisation's strategy; be able to apply these concepts, theories, and integrated models to analyse and evaluate the performance of contemporary Australian organisations; be able to evaluate the influences on an organisation's strategy and propose appropriate strategic choices to improve performance, and; be able to present the results of case analysis both orally and in a written report.
Synopsis This course is concerned with strategic analysis and the process of strategic management in contemporary Australian organisations. The focus is on the application of strategic management theories and concepts to the context of selected Australian organisations. This requires analysis of the environment of the organisation and its internal capabilities to develop and implement strategies to improve performance.
Assessment Written (group assignments 6500 words): 50% + Examination (2 hours): 50%
