Objectives On completion of this subject students should have an understanding of the role of human resource management in achieving organisational objectives; be able to critically evaluate the theoretical, technical and ethical issues in human resource management; have an understanding of the policies, practices and procedures associated with the effective management of people in organisations; have an understanding of the impact of the social, political and economic environment on the theory and practice of human resource management in organisations.
Synopsis This subject provides an introduction to the factors involved in the effective utilisation of people within organisations. Topics to be studied include human resource planning; job analysis; recruitment and selection; performance appraisal; training and development; remuneration; and occupational health. and safety.
