Comparative management

Objectives To enhance understanding of different cultures (and countries) and to analyse the implications of such differences in forming managerial policies.

Synopsis The subject aims to provide students with a framework for understanding national and cultural differences in international management, taking a comparative approach. After an overview of cross-cultural issues, using Australian management as a basis for comparison, various national groups will be analysed. Upon completion, students should have an appreciation of the important facets to be considered when managing in different cultures.

Assessment Written (2000-3000 word group assignment): 60% + Examination (case study): 40%
