Objectives To develop an understanding of the range of analytical techniques which may be employed to assist in the strategy process of an organisation as well as their application at the various levels of the strategy process: corporate, business and functional.
Synopsis Topics include cost dynamics, portfolio techniques, strategy maps, corporate planning models, knowledge-based systems, forecasting, technological change and diffusion, value creation, risk management, industry and competitive analysis, among others. The competitive business environment and the non-business area require somewhat different approaches to corporate planning. Although the subject focuses principally on techniques of a competitive nature, several techniques will be applicable to both areas.
