External economic environment

Lecturers to be advised

6 points + One 3-hour session per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisite: Pass in first-year university level microeconomics and macroeconomics.

Objectives On completion of this subject students will have refreshed their understanding of key economic principles and their application; developed expertise in applying economic principles to better understanding the implications of the external environment affecting their opportunities and constraints as managers; and, for a few illustrative examples, undertaken a detailed evaluation of the effects of the external environment on private and public sector managers.

Synopsis The subject will consider three sets of issues drawn from, for example, the labour market, government macroeconomic policies, international trade, taxation, social security.
