Tourism projects (evaluation and proposals)

6 points + Distance: 12 hours per week + Gippsland + Prerequisite: Graduate Certificate of Business (Tourism Operations) or equivalent

Objectives The primary objective of this subject is to extend the knowledge gained in previous tourism management and elective subjects and to demonstrate how it can be applied in the management of tourism project developments. It aims to develop skills in the research required to assess the feasibility of a proposal and to identify potential environmental constraints, and the ability to design a management plan which reflects social and environmental concerns and which will contribute to the sustainability of the project.

Synopsis Topics include project description; environmental assessment; tourism profile; revenue projections; investment analysis; management plan; staffing; marketing.

Assessment Two minor assignments (essays 2000 words): 40% + Major assignment (report 5000-10,000 words): 60%
