Objectives On completion of this subject students should have a basic understanding of the methodology and principles of economics; have a basic understanding of micro and macro economics; be able to present arguments and make decisions in the economic environment. This unit is mainly for post-graduate conversion courses to qualify for admission to the professional accounting bodies.

Synopsis Topics include analysing supply and demand; macro and microeconomics; intermediate price theory; market structure; competitive policy; the macroeconomy; the Keynesian model; government stabilisation policy and policy debates.

Assessment Assignment (3000 words): 20% + Mid-semester test (1 hour): 30% + Examination (2 hours): 50%
