Asian business law

Objectives On completion of this subject students should understand the operation of and the relationship between international regimes andthe regional legal framework for trade and investment activities within the Asian region and the national legal systems of selected Asian nations; be able to identify and understand legal issues in a regional trade and investment context.

Synopsis This subject examines the regional trade and investment regimes affecting businesses operating in the Asian region. Both international and regional trade conventions are explored. The business and investment laws of selected Asian nations are also examined. Topics covered include national development planning; the political context of international trade and investment; import/export regulation; foreign investment regimes and dispute resolution.

Assessment Research paper (10,000-11,000 words): 100% + All students selecting this second option are also required to present a 10-minute class-paper presentation on their chosen topic of research.
