Objectives On completion of this subject students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the principles of government economic policy making; appreciate the limitations of economic policy measures; understand how economic conditions and economic policy impart on operations within a commercial organisation.

Synopsis Topics include inflation and unemployment; budgetary policy and monetary policy; the balance of payments and foreign debt; reforms in tariff policy, labour market policy and tax policy; current economic conditions.

Assessment Seminar presentation: 25% + Research essay: 75%
