Reading subject

First, second semester, full-year + Clayton

Objectives On completion of this subject students should be in a position to begin active research towards a master's degree or PhD by research.

Synopsis This subject will consist of a subject of study in a special field of economic history in which no formal subject is available. The subject of study will be closely linked to a master's by research or PhD course. In such a subject, access to which is normally open only to students who have previously done other work with a staff member concerned, the supervisor will prescribe a list of references, consult frequently with the student and set whatever written work and examinations the supervisor deems appropriate. Students interested in a reading subject of this type should first consult the head of the department.
