Objectives On completion of this subject students should have developed an understanding of the theory of finance to enable the evaluation of investment, financing and dividend decisions of the firm; be familiar with the application of analytical techniques of a variety of problems in domestic corporate financial management; be familiar with the institutional framework so that they can appreciate the environment in which financial decisions are made; have developed an awareness of the techniques involved in dealing with foreign exchange exposures.

Synopsis Topics include dividend policy capital structure and financing decisions, leasing as a source of finance, measurement and use of the cost of capital, management of fixed interest investments, futures and options, mergers and acquisitions, international financial management, implications of market efficiency for management.

Assessment Mid-semester test: 20% + Examination (3 hours): 80%
