Comprehensive Japanese IA: part 1

6 points + 6 hours per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: no prior knowledge of the language is expected

Synopsis This subject aims to develop basic communicative competence in spoken Japanese, and to provide an introduction to written Japanese. It will develop the student's competence to interact successfully with the Japanese in basic daily life situations. It is the first part of a two-semester sequence and is designed to be followed by JPL1120. Both JPL1110 and JPL1120 must be taken in order to proceed to the second-year language sequence. Students are recommended to enrol concurrently for JPS1070 (Sources of contemporary Japanese culture and society).

Assessment Examination (1.5 hrs): 40% + Quizzes and assignments: 10% + Aural/Oral tests and performance activities: 50%
