Beginning Indonesian, part 1

6 points + 5 hours per week + First semester + Gippsland + Prerequisites: No previous knowledge of Indonesian is assumed

Synopsis In this subject the primary focus is on basic communication skills required for use in an Indonesian or Australian setting. The lecture series covers a broad introduction to the culture and geography of Indonesia and Southeast Asia as well as an introduction to strategies and skills required in learning a language. Practicals deal with the introduction and application of basic communication tasks with an emphasis on numeracy skills and immediate needs. The tutorial is student directed and deals with problems or points of interest arising from the practicals and lectures

Assessment Examination (2 hours): 50% + Assignments, tests and oral: 50%
