Dissent in American society

Synopsis This subject will examine religious, political, and cultural dissent as ideology and practice in the United States from the 1600s to the late twentieth century. Topics will include evangelicals and fundamentalists, revolutionaries, socialists, environmentalists, communists and anticommunists, the Ku-Klux Klan, black nationalists, and the antiwar and counter-culture movements.

Assessment Short paper (1000 words): 20% + Long essay (3000 words): 40% + Examination (2 hours): 40%
