Synopsis This subject introduces students to the study of reproductive physiology and the coordination of body functions. Topics to be covered include the structure and function of male and female reproductive systems; the processes of conception and pregnancy; mechanisms of contraception; common diseases of the reproductive system; sterility and new reproductive technologies; organisation of the nervous system; brain structure, function and its role in behaviour; the structure and function of the eye and ear; common eye and ear defects; organisation of the endocrine system; the role of hormones and nerves in controlling body functions; endocrine disorders.
Assessment Essay (1000 words): 20% + Practical work: 30% + Examination (2 hours): 50%
