Theory and method

Prerequisites: First degree with a major in history-politics or related
discipline(s)
Synopsis This subject is designed to build upon and extend the theory
and method already taught, but with the explicit aim to demystify the theory
and method of history and politics. By use of seminars and debates the subject
seeks to extend students' knowledge, skills in logical thought, critical
reasoning and informed debate. Seminars are be used as a student-centred
approach to facilitate discussion, learning and the development of short papers
and the dissertation.
Assessment One essay (6000 words): 70% + Seminar papers (3000 words):
30%
