Journalism theory and practice B

8 points + 3 hours per week (1 hour lecture, 2 hours tutorial) + Second semester + Gippsland/Distance + Prerequisites: GSC1901 and GSC1402 or eqivalents

Synopsis This subject complements `Journalism theory and practice A' by contributing to a comprehensive understanding of journalism which links to a broader communication, cross cultural and political framework. An ability to critically reflect on the moral, technical, intellectual and artistic achievements of journalism will be developed. In particular, awareness of journalistic practice in an intercultural context is developed. Applications of knowledges across media and an understanding of both technological convergence and specialisation of information practices will be developed to complement GSC2903 (Journalism technology and information society).
