Sociology of health

Gippsland/Distance + Prerequisites: GSC1201, GSC1202 or equivalents. Students
who have completed 6326 (Sociology of health and welfare) cannot enrol in
GSC2206
Synopsis This subject is designed to give students a comparative view of
health care systems, as well as emphasising that health and illness are more
the result of social processes than biological ones. A variety of health issues
are examined to illustrate different sociological perspectives.
Assessment Assignment one (1500 words): 25% + Assignment two (2500
words): 40% + Examination (2 hour): 35%
