Introduction to psychology B

6 points + Two 1-hour lectures and one 2-hour laboratory tutorial per week + Second semester + Gippsland/Distance

Synopsis Together with GAS1501, this subject provides a general introduction to the science of psychology as a behavioural science, and as a basis for further detailed study of specific areas of psychology. The major theme of the subject is a consideration of the factors that influence individual differences in human behaviour. The topics covered include human development, health, stress and coping, personality, psychological disorders and therapies, and social influences on human behaviours. Distance education students will be required to attend at least six hours at weekend schools, including a laboratory session. Students for whom attendance is difficult can request permission to undertake alternative work.

Assessment Essay: 20% + Methodology assignment: 20% + Laboratory book: 10% + Examination: 50% + A pass on the examination is a requirement for successful completion of this subject
