CONTENTS
- Introduction

- Bachelor of Communication double degree and double award programs
In 1995 Monash University commenced offering studies at Berwick, with the first
intake of students accommodated in the Casey College of TAFE premises, awaiting
the opening of the Monash University campus in February 1996. These first
programs offered at Berwick were a unique combination of university and TAFE
studies, with students undertaking a Monash University Bachelor of
Communication degree, while at the same time completing a diploma or associate
diploma qualification from Casey College of TAFE. The Bachelor of Communication
degree is a degree of the whole university, administered by the Faculty of
Arts. In 1996 a new range of double degree and double award programs will be
added to the programs offered in 1995.
The following undergraduate programs will be available on the Berwick campus in
1996:
Double degrees
+ Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Communication
+ Bachelor of Communication/Bachelor of Tourism
+ Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Tourism
Double awards
+ Bachelor of Communication/Associate Diploma of Arts (Professional
Writing and Editing)
+ Bachelor of Communication/ Diploma of Information Technology (Technical
and User Support)
+ Bachelor of Communication/Associate Diploma of Business (Marketing)
+ Bachelor of Tourism/Associate Diploma of Hospitality Supervision
+ Bachelor of Tourism/Associate Diploma of Business (Marketing)
All these programs involve studies for two separate qualifications at the same
time.
Note: The Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Tourism degree programs are
controlled by the Faculty of Business and Economics, and students should
consult the handbook for that faculty for details of these programs. Details of
the TAFE associate diploma and diploma courses may be obtained from Casey
College of TAFE.
The Bachelor of Communication degree may be undertaken only as part of a double
degree or double award program. In double degree programs, studies are
undertaken in two different degrees at the same time, enabling the student to
graduate eventually with two degrees (eg BComn and BBus). In double award
programs, studies are undertaken with Monash University for the degree and with
Casey College of TAFE for the diploma or associate diploma, enabling the
student to graduate eventually with a university degree and a TAFE
qualification (eg Monash BComn and Casey ADB (Marketing).
