During the course students will expand and enhance their understanding of Koorie traditions, cultures and history. Particular emphasis is placed on helping students gain self-confidence and increasing the range of lifestyle alternatives open to them. In particular the course provides them with the opportunity to gain a fully accredited tertiary award which will significantly enhance their career prospects and enable them to proceed to further tertiary study should they so desire.
The course is available for on-campus study only - full-time and part-time.
In addition, there are two subjects available for study by distance education - GSC1801 (Introduction to Koorie society) and GSC2806 (Koorie archaeology) - which can be part of the Australian studies minor within the Bachelor of Arts (Humanities and Social Sciences). These subjects are also available to students in social welfare and those undertaking studies in other schools.
