Community studies
This is a minor sequence of interdisciplinary subjects introducing students to
community issues in postmodern contexts. These subjects aim at exposing
students to current debates about the meaning, nature and outlook of
communities. The minor consists of GSC2701 (Community studies) and GSC2702
(Community studies) (subject to approval) project plus an additional two
subjects from the following:
Koorie studies
+ GSC1801 Introduction to Koorie society
History-politics
+ GSC2506 Community history
Social Welfare
+ GSC1301 Welfare issues
+ GSC2304 Welfare methods IIB/Community development
Sociology
+ GSC2209 Environmental sociology
Details of these subjects are listed under the entries for the appropriate
disciplines. Students should note that prerequisites may be required for
upper-level subjects.
