Management
The Department of Business Management teaches a number of management related
subjects which comprise one stream of the BCom. These subjects are designed to
increase students' knowledge of management and organisation behaviour as
academic fields of study, and to impart knowledge and skills considered
necessary to be competent in the management of public and private sector
organisations.
These subjects are available to arts students. No previous study of management
is required.
First-year level
+ MGC1020 Introduction to management: managing organisations
+ MGC1030 Introduction to management: people and organisations
Second-year level
A number of second-year subjects offered by the Department of Business
Management are available to students from other faculties without the
prerequisites of MGC1020 or MGC1030. In those cases it may be considered that
an equivalent body of knowledge has been gained by students in their existing
studies. No more than three such subjects may be undertaken. Students wishing
to enrol for a second-year subject without the prerequisite should consult the
Department of Business Management.
For details of second and third-year management subjects which are available,
consult the entries under management in the handbook for the Faculty of
Business and Economics.
