Qualitative research strategies

Synopsis The aim of this subject is to introduce students to various
perspectives, critiques and ethical issues involved in qualitative social
research. It is designed to familiarise students with a number of qualitative
research methods used in sociology including paraticipant observation, in-depth
interviewing, symbolic interactionism, ethnography and the use of documents and
texts such as diaries and policy documents.
Assessment Three pieces of written work (3000 words each) 33% each.
