Synopsis This course will focus on the work of Jacques Derrida, his strategy of deconstruction and critique of logocentrism. Topics to be covered will include phonocentrism and logocentrism, linguistics and grammatology, speech and writing, and differance. Particular emphasis will be placed on the relationship between Derrida's thought and analytic philosophy of language.
Assessment Written (6000 words): 100% + Option of a 3000-word essay and a 3-hour examination
