Synopsis Guided by supervisors, the student will choose and submit a unified program of works to be studied and performed, with an essay containing a fully developed justification of the program, and a discussion of the performance practice, analysis and history of the repertoire. Students will receive an individual or group lesson each week on their chosen instrument, or voice or a group lesson in the case of conducting; and will attend masterclasses as prescribed, the nature of which will be determined by the selection of chief practical study enrolments. Each student will arrange and present a solo lecture-demonstration open to the public and write a program booklet for distribution at the lecture-demonstration. Programs should be of approximately an hour in length and will be presented before a team of examiners. On completion of the subject students should have developed technical skills and experience in musical performance and have broadened their knowledge and understanding of the repertoire.
