Research methods in music

12 points + 2 hours per week + First semester + Clayton

Synopsis The subject familiarises students with various research methods appropriate to musicology and choreology, focusing on the practical aspects of historical musicology and ethnomusicology, and methodologies associated with bibliographic studies, textual criticism, archival research, organology, iconography and performance practice. The subject involves information sharing and critical assessment.

Assessment Seminar participation: 10% + Oral report: 10% + Seven written assignments (8000 words total): 80%
