Synopsis The subject deals with musical aesthetic, social and ritual concepts and practices as expressed in the musical life of North and South India, with particular reference to selected performances of music and dance, and the relationships between music and the related arts, and the topology of musical instruments in South Asia.

Assessment Written (4500 words): 50% + Performance and other assignments: 30% + Examinations (2 hours): 20%
