Synopsis This subject is a study of (a) the changing technologies of book production in the Western tradition from the fifteenth century onwards and (b) the bibliographical control of incunabula and other pre-1801 printed books. Students will be required to hand-set a short text and print it on a flat-bed press.
Assessment Essay (5000 words): 30% + Essay (4000 words): 30% + Identification exercise: 30% + Printing exercise: 10%
