Research project in Japanese business communication

8 points + Elective + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: Completion of Graduate Diploma of Arts or MA part 1 in Japanese business communication and JBC4830/5830 (Administrative and business Japanese)

Synopsis Students will select a topic for research in Japanese business communication and collect data from observations of the workplace, from interviews with staff members and from collections of business documents. Students will write a research paper of 3000-6000 words depending upon the amount of credit being sought. By studying this subject students will acquire first-hand experience of how to research the workplace in a Japanese organisation. Students will also put their Japanese language into actual use through interviewing or coming into contact with staff members at the workplace as well as through the process of analysing written documents. Students will be given a supervisor to guide them through their work.

Assessment (8 points) Research paper (6000 words): 100%
